  <P>Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick’s plan to unsettle the Reds paid dividends as Adelaide resorted to longer balls and tried to hit the home side on the break.</P>
  <P>But after Phoenix forced six corners in the first half Adelaide eventually settled into a pattern.</P>
  <P>Moss, however, only made one routine save from a meek Fabio Ferreira attempt.</P>

  <P>Carrusca resumed play a couple of minutes later but the injury didn’t deter the Argentine from having another first class match.</P>

  <P>The balance of play then swung Phoenix’s way as Adelaide was thrown another scare when defender Nigel Boogaard landed heavily on his head after clashing with Manny Muscat.</P>
  <P>After Boogaard re-entered the fray Phoenix exploited Adelaide with direct balls through the middle.</P>
  <P>Muscat fed a superb ball for Stein Huysegems but the Belgian’s effort with the Reds defence beaten was brilliantly parried by Galekovic again after Adelaide succumbed to a straight ball through the centre on the stroke of half-time.</P>
