We are now treating map ownership on a first come, first serve basis. This means, that when you submit a map (and use the included "I am the author of this map"), you will gain ownership unless the map already is present on the site.
There is also now heavier integration with the map submission and project creation. The goal is to really drive project usage, as it is much more useful to the end user who wants to keep informed of updates.
I don't think this is a great idea... There are people who hack other people's maps because they're zealous about the maps or they want to steal credit.
For example, many people think the Custom Hero Wars 4.0 and 5.0 are official sequels of the Custom Hero Wars f-3b, but they're in fact hacked versions.

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear. This simply means that initial ownership would go to you, if you were the first person to upload a map (meaning it wasnt found already), and you selected "I am the owner". This already partially works, and it's more or less an almost identical process on other sites.
However, this does not mean someone else (the actual owner) could not come along and take away ownership of you (though someone would have to convince us who the owner is). It'd be the same process as pending changes get approved now.

I said it before, I'll say it again: Nibbits does not value or respect map makers in any regard.

Sounds Good. It is a good idea.
I don think so.
