  • KANSAS CITY, Kan. Michael Crabtree Jersey . -- Matt Kenseth won for the second time in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship in a caution-marred race at repaved Kansas Speedway. The fast new surface and a hard tire contributed to Sundays race-record 14 cautions, a season high for the Sprint Cup Series. "You know, everybody has been asking all season long where the cautions have been," points leader Brad Keselowski said. "Well, they flew to Kansas and theyve been hanging out here because there was caution after caution." Nobody was immune from the problems, either, as at least five title contenders had issues. Jimmie Johnson led 44 laps early, but crashed hard after spinning by himself. He had to stop at least a half-dozen times on pit road for repairs over two caution periods to salvage a ninth-place finish. "I have never in my 30 years of racing seen anyone perform that kind of surgery and not lose a lap," team owner Rick Hendrick said about the No. 48 teams work on the car. It was good enough to keep the Chase margin unchanged with Keselowski, who finished one spot ahead in eighth and maintained his seven-point lead in the standings with four races remaining. "Im glad to have survived the carnage and brought back a decent car," Keselowski said. "Whew! Just a tough day." Martin Truex Jr. finished second, Paul Menard was third in the first race back for crew chief Slugger Labbe, who served a six-race suspension for an infraction at Michigan. Kasey Kahne finished fourth and was followed by Tony Stewart, who overcame both a spin during the race and a pit road penalty for leaving his stall with equipment still attached to his car. Clint Bowyer, from nearby Emporia and the winner last week at Charlotte, finished sixth to maintain fourth in the Chase standings. He trimmed his deficit by three points to 25 behind Keselowski. Regan Smith, in his second race filling in for Dale Earnhardt Jr., was seventh. Earnhardt is expected to be cleared to return to the No. 88 Chevrolet next week at Martinsville after sitting out two races because of two concussions in a six-week span. Keselowski, Johnson and Jeff Gordon rounded out the top 10. Denny Hamlin was 13th to remain third in the standings, but he lost five points and now is down 20 to Keselowski. For Kenseth, it was his second win in three weeks, but not enough to put him back in the title picture. Although he gained two spots in the standings, hes still ninth in the Chase and 55 points out. Most people probably think he gets the hardware and then heads to the clubhouse or back to his hotel for a celebration. Not quite. Heres what happened to Rory McIlroy after he sunk the final putt that gave him his second major championship. After signing his scorecard, McIlroy came back out to the photo session. Its a madhouse with TV cameras and still cameras all vying for a look. For this particular championship, McIlory was invited to walk a few hundred yards and pose on the beach with the Wannamaker Trophy. Once again, photographer chaos ensued. After a while, the trophy became so heavy, he had to squat down, resting it on his leg. He managed to stand up once more for a few more shots and then back to the original presentation spot for more photos. There were photos with PGA folks and sponsor folks and other folks... Im not sure who they were. Then Rory got to go into the clubhouse and have a celebratory slurp of champagne with the members of the Ocean Club. There were small speeches and more toasts and lots of people looking for autographs. Then the champion was shuffled off to the media centre to face the press for about half an hour being grilled on every aspect of his magnificent round. After that, he was shuttled back to the clubhouse where he does a series of one-on-one interviewws with rights holders, TSN being one of them. Aldon Smith Jersey. Essentially this is a series of Q+As where McIlroy is answering the same six or seven questions from eight different interviewers. We were number four on this docket and just before we were slated to start, some food arrived. By now it was nine oclock and everyone was hungry so Rory slammed down some chicken and broccoli. There was more champagne there too, but I didnt see him drink any. And then, just before we were about to start, he got a call from "Woz", as he called her. That would be Caroline Wozniaki, tennis star and McIlroys girlfriend. So everyone was shuttled out of the room while the champ talked to his lady, which only seemed right. The poor guy should be celebrating with his woman . . . he just won a major! When the call ended, we sat down and Rory was charming in answering the questions. We did the same thing after he won his first major and he was gracious then too. As the interview went on (it wasnt long, only about five minutes) , it was easy to see, that the kid was whacked. It was a long day with 27 holes of golf and then all the responsibilities of a champion. After finishing up his duties, McIlroy and his team left the Ocean Course in a herd of SUVs, heading back to the house hed rented and finally, youd presume, a celebration. But it wouldnt surprise me if he just collapsed. ' ' '
